GOLDEN KNIGHTS EDGED OUT AT 16TH RANKED FRANKLIN PIERCE

RINDGE, NH-The College of Saint Rose suffered its fourth defeat of the season by less than five points with today's 85-83 setback at Northeast-10 Conference rival Franklin Pierce.

Senior center Dominykas Milka scored 17 of his 23 points in the first half for the Golden Knights (8-7/5-4 NE-10). He also hauled in five rebounds to become just the sixth players in Saint Rose annals to record more than 800 (804) in a career.

Furthermore, sophomore forward Tyler Sayre tossed in 17 and sophomore guard Chris Dorgler contributed 11, behind 5-for-7 shooting from the floor, throughout 19 minutes of reserve duty. Senior guard Dan Mundweiler handed out a career-high 10 assists to go along with eight points.

Junior forward Ryen Vilmont  had a game-high 32 points for the Ravens (12-2/7-2 NE-10), who are ranked #16 in the latest National Association of Basketball Coaches (NABC) NCAA Division II National Poll. Also, senior forward Adrianos Vourliotakis Perdikaris tossed in 21 points via a 9-for-10 shooting effort.

The game was close throughout with nine ties and a like number of lead changes. Both squads also shot well. Franklin Pierce converted 49.1 percent (28-for-57) of it opportunities from the floor and outscored Saint Rose 18-5 from the foul line. Meanwhile, the Golden Knights canned 50.0 percent (36-for-72) of their field goal chances. It marked the seventh time this year that they made at least half of their attempts.

Saint Rose appeared to be on the brink via a nine point, 77-68, deficit with only 1:28 to go. The Golden Knights then rattled off 10 of the game's next 14 points to make it a one possession affair, 81-78, after Sayre drained a jumper from near the top of the key with 16 seconds showing on the clock. However, Vilmont made four free throws from that point forward, including a pair with three seconds left, to seal the outcome. Freshman guard Isaiah Cosbert then hit a perfunctory 3-pointer at the buzzer.

Looking ahead, the Golden Knights are back on the road this Tuesday, January 14, for a 7:30 pm conference date at Merrimack in North Andover, MA. Meanwhile, the Ravens are off until next Saturday, January 18, when they have a 3:30 pm meeting at league rival New Haven.
