Box Score
ALBANY–Bentley handed The College of Saint Rose its first home loss of the year with a 3-2 victory in
Northeast-10 Conference action earlier today at
Sullivan Field at the Plumeri Sports Complex. The visiting Falcons (2-3/1-2 NE-10) outshot the Golden Knights (3-3/1-2 NE-10) 10-6 and each team engineered four corner kicks for what was a fairly evenly played contest.
Saint Rose, which was looking to open 4-2 for only the second time in its 32-year history, got a goal and an assist from both senior forward
Juan Garzon and freshman midfielder
Uros Antic.
Meanwhile, senior midfielder Justin Cirasola, sophomore forward Nicolas Ucros, and freshman midfielder Forrest Scaringe all scored to help the Falcons snap a three-match skid.
Bentley went ahead to stay in the 56th minute when Ucros hooked in a nifty free kick from about 35-yards out on the left flank that found the lower near corner. Sixteen minutes later, Scaringe rifled a shot from some 25-yards out on the right side that sailed inside the lower left-corner for what proved to be the game-winner.
Bentley took a 1-0 lead in the 29th when Cirasola finished from in close, which is where things stood at intermission.
Garzon then created space deep on the right side and sent a cross to the middle that Antic one-timed home to make 1-1 with only four minutes gone by in the second period. However, Bentley subsequently took a 3-1 lead that held up until the final two minutes when Antic returned the favor to Garzon by slipping in a through ball that the latter finished for his team-leading third strike of the year.
In goal, Saint Rose sophomore
Colan Balkwell and Bentley sophomore Jack Blatchford made two saves apiece.
Looking ahead, the Golden Knights are back home Tuesday with a 7:00 pm conference match versus Southern Connecticut State. Meanwhile, Bentley is on the road Wednesday with a 3:30 pm date at NE-10 rival Stonehill.
