Box Score
WEST HAVEN, CT – The College of Saint Rose made the most of its opportunities to upend host
Northeast-10 Conference rival New Haven 3-0 today. The Golden Knights were outshot by a 21-14 margin, including a 14-5 differential in the second stanza, and did not manufacture a corner kick as opposed to 10 for the Chargers (0-4-1/0-1-0 NE-10).
However, sophomore keeper
Colan Balkwell turned aside all six shots-on-goal he faced in the second half to keep the Chargers off the board. Furthermore, freshman keeper
Christian Esposito came up with a save in the opening 45 minutes to allow the Golden Knights, who are 3-2 for the first time in nine years, to take a 2-0 halftime lead.
Senior forwards
Juan Garzon and
Jacob Sand, and freshman midfielder
Uros Antic each scored unassisted to account for the three Saint Rose (3-2-0/1-1-0 NE-10) tallies.
Garzon found the back of the net with 22:08 gone by for what proved to be the game-winner. Antic then made it 2-0 five minutes later, before Sand added the final marker in the 83rd minute.
Looking ahead, Saint Rose is scheduled to return home Saturday to host conference rival Bentley. Kickoff is set for 1:00 pm at
Sullivan Field at the Plumeri Sports Complex. Meanwhile, New Haven is also home Saturday with a 1:00 pm NE-10 date versus Southern New Hampshire.
