ALBANY – American International scored four times in the ninth inning to upend The College of Saint Rose 12-8 in a
Northeast-10 Conference Southwest Division encounter at
Bob Bellizzi Field at the Plumeri Sports Complex this afternoon.
The Yellow Jackets (19-19/10-14 NE-10) scored at least a run in each of the first five innings to go up 8-6, before the Golden Knights (10-37/8-19) pushed across a pair in the eighth to tie it 8-8.
Senior left fielder
Scott Hladik went 4-for-5 with two RBI and sophomore first baseman
Zac Bellinger wound up 4-for-4 with one RBI to lead the Saint Rose 15-hit attack. Also, senior designated hitter
Caleb Gleason finished 2-for-5 with a pair of RBI to extend his hit streak to 12 games.
Two-run base hits by sophomore first baseman Mike Coyne and freshman second baseman Zach Kane coupled with two hit-batters and a wild pitch led to the four American International runs in the ninth.
Freshman right fielder David Kerlejza went 3-for-5 and belted his first home run of the year, while junior left fielder Dan Asselin doubled and added his third round-tripper of the spring to pace the Yellow Jackets offense.
The Golden Knights cut their 4-1 deficit to 4-3 in the third and then scored three times in the fourth to tie it 6-6 after American International added two more in the top of the inning. Gleason, Bellinger, junior shortstop

Up next, these two teams are scheduled to close out the three-game series here with a doubleheader Sunday. First pitch is scheduled for 12:00 pm. There will be a brief pregame ceremony honoring the Saint Rose senior class.
