GARDEN CITY, NY – The College of Saint Rose fell 10-3 in the weekend series finale at Northeast-10 Conference Southwest Division rival Adelphi earlier today. The Panthers broke open a 3-0 game with five runs in the fourth inning. The Golden Knights eventually got on the board with two runs in the sixth and another in the seventh, but could not get any closer after stranding a pair in both the eighth and ninth.

Junior shortstop Joseph Carcone went 3-for-5 with an RBI and senior left fielder Caleb Gleason extended his hit streak to 10 games by going 2-for-4 for the Golden Knights (10-35/7-18 NE-10).

Meanwhile, junior third baseman Richard Mejia went 2-for-4 and belted a two-run home run over the left-center field fence in the first, while senior designated hitter Brandon Stahl finished 4-for-5 with two RBI and a pair of runs scored for Adelphi (20-221/11-13 NE-10).

Three base hits followed by an Adelphi error led to the first run in the sixth. Freshman third baseman Chad Adams then brought home the second run with a sacrifice fly. In the seventh, sophomore right fielder Lukas Nethaway singled to center and then scored two batters later on a Carcone double down the left field line.

Adams stroked a two-out double in the eighth to run his hit streak to eight games, but was left there as the Golden Knights fell for just the second time in their last six contests.

Up next, Saint Rose will head to Syracuse on Tuesday to visit league and “Upstate Challenge” rival Le Moyne. First pitch is scheduled for 3:30 pm. Meanwhile, Adelphi will host Pace University for a 3:30 pm conference game that same afternoon.
