Box Score
ALBANY – Le Moyne scored two runs in the first inning that proved to be enough for sophomore left-hander Jon Dunn who led the Dolphins to a 7-0 victory against The College of Saint Rose in a
Northeast-10 Conference Southwest Division tilt this afternoon at
Bob Bellizzi Field at the Plumeri Sports Complex. The contest also marked another chapter of the year-long "
Upstate Challenge” rivalry series between the two schools.
Dunn scattered five hits, fanned five without issuing a walk, and faced just two batters above the minimum; thanks to a pair of double plays, to chalk up his second victory of the season.
Senior left fielder
Caleb Gleason had two base hits for the Golden Knights (6-31/3-14 NE-10). As for Le Moyne (14-19/7-8 NE-10), senior third baseman Zack Wiley went 3-for-5 while graduate shortstop Ryan Mahoney wound up 2-for-4 with three RBI.
A wild pitch and a Mahoney sacrifice fly accounted for the two Dolphins runs in the first. They then added two more in the third, one in the fourth and another pair in the eighth.
Looking ahead, the Golden Knights open a three-game weekend series at home Saturday with conference division rival New Haven. Saturday's doubleheader gets underway at 12:00 pm as part of
Take A Kid to the Game Festivities. The two teams will wrap-up the weekend Sunday at 1:00 pm. Meanwhile, the Dolphins have a similar home schedule this weekend with a three-game series versus Southern Connecticut State.
