GOLDEN KNIGHTS USE STRONG PITCHING TO UPEND DOMINICAN 1-0 IN 11 INNINGS

Sophomore right-hander Nick Venier allowed only three hits throughout 5.2 innings of work to pick up the win today.

LANTANA, FL – Freshman center fielder Derek Reed scored from first base via an infield error on a hit-and-run to help The College of Saint Rose upend Dominican College 1-0 in 11 innings today at the Palm Beach Challenge.

Sophomore right-hander Nick Venier came out of the bullpen and allowed only three hits throughout 5.2 innings of work to pick up the win. Freshman right-hander Phillip Zdanowski got the start and  tossed 4.1 innings of two-hit ball.

Freshman shortstop Chad Adams went 2-for-4 to lead the Saint Rose (2-6) attack. Junior left fielder Scott Hladik, senior catcher A.J. Capone and junior right-fielder Brian Maynard also had base hits.

Second baseman Kenny Harrell doubled and added a base hit to lead Dominican.

Looking ahead, the Golden Knights are back on the field tomorrow with a 2:00 pm doubleheader versus Wilmington in Lantana. Meanwhile, Dominican has six days off before returning to the diamond next Tuesday, March 12 for a 3:00 pm non-conference date at New Haven.
