WEST HAVEN, CT – The College of Saint Rose rallied from a 15 point, second half deficit to get to within one on two occasions in the final four minutes, but the Golden Knights could not get over the last hurdle in a 71-65 season-finale loss at
Northeast-10 Conference rival New Haven tonight. Saint Rose (9-17/6-16 NE-10) had nine players figure in the scoring column and seven who saw at least 10 minutes of playing time.

Desiree Simmons recorded season-highs of 19 points and four assists, to go along with six rebounds and five steals to lead the Golden Knights. Sophomore guard
Gabie Polce finished with 14 points. Freshman guard
Tyler Hansen wound up with eight points while senior forward
Jessica Walton and sophomore center
Mariah Lesure tossed in seven each.
Freshman guard Briana Bradford had a game-high 23 points for New Haven (14-12/13-9 NE-10), which heads into the upcoming NE-10 Championship having won four straight and eight of its last nine. Sophomore forward Bria Moore added 16 points while junior guard Anh-Dao Tran recorded 10 points and seven assists, with only one turnover.
The Chargers broke apart a four point, 34-30, ballgame by opening the second period with a 15-4 run that expanded their advantage to the aforementioned 15 points, 49-34, with 14:03 left to play. The Golden Knights cut their deficit to 11, 59-48, six minutes later and then scored 12 of the game's next 14 points to get to within one, 61-60, with 3:46 remaining.
Polce took over the game to lead the spurt. She ignited it by hitting a pair of free throws and then after senior forward
Emily Trapp buried a trey, she drained one of her own. Polce followed by finishing a fastbreak feed from junior guard Brittany O'Shea and by converting a layup.
Sophomore center Rykema Stone quieted by the Golden Knights flurry with a jumper in the paint, but after each team came up empty, Lesure hit a pair from the foul line to make it 63-62 New Haven with 2:38 to go.
However, the Chargers scored the game's next eight points. A jumper by Tran followed by an offensive foul against Saint Rose and an ensuing turnover, coupled with layups by Bradford and sophomore forward Ashley LeBlanc, put New Haven in control via a seven point cushion, 69-62, with less than a minute to play. Two free throws from Bradford made it a nine point ballgame with 32 seconds left.
