SOUTHERN CONNECTICUT OUTLASTS GOLDEN KNIGHTS

Sophomore forward Chris Dorgler scored 10 points during tonight's 76-65 setback at Southern Connecticut.

NEW HAVEN, CT-Host Southern Connecticut broke open a halftime tie to upend The College of Saint Rose 76-65 this evening during Northeast-10 Conference action. In the process, the Golden Knights (5-3/3-1 NE-10) had their five-game win streak snapped.
 
Senior center Dominykas Milka recorded his seventh "double-double" of the season behind 17 points and 14 rebounds. Sophomore forward Tyler Sayre also posted a "double-double" with 19 points and 10 boards, which tied his career-high. Sophomore guard Chris Dorgler came off the bench to add 10 points.
 
Southern Connecticut (5-1/2-1 NE-10) enjoyed a 20-point performance from senior guard Greg Langston. Junior guard Tylon Smith tossed in 19 points and grabbd seven rebounds while sophomore guard Deshawn Murphy knocked down five, 3-pointers for all 15 of his points.
 
The teams went into the locker room deadlocked 26-26 at the break after the Owls had built a 19-7 advanage just 10 minutes in.  However, the Golden Knights rallied to tie the game at 21-21 less than three minutes later after freshman guard Isaiah Cosbert drained his third 3-pointer.
 
The Golden Knights held the lead for a majority of the first five minutes of the second half before Southern Connecticut went on a 13-0 run to create a 12-point, 50-38, lead . Saint Rose was unable to bring the deficit below double-figures as the Owls shot 9-of-16 from the beyond the arc in the second stanza. Murphy highlighted the hot shooting by going 4-for-7 from long-range.
 
Up next, Saint Rose returns to Connecticut next Tuesday, December 10 with a 7:00 pm league date at New Haven. Meanwhile, the Owls travel to American International this Saturday for a 3:30 pm conference meeting in Springfield, MA.
