SAINT ROSE DEFEATS CHESTNUT HILL

ALBANY-The College of Saint Rose held off Chestnut Hill to chalk up a 73-65 victory during the second and final day of action of the Northeast-10 Challenge, presented by Hilton Garden Inn Albany Medical Center, this evening.

Sophomore forward Tyler Sayre scored a career-high 27 points, on 10-for-17 shooting, and hauled in nine rebounds to lead the Golden Knights (2-2). Senior center Dominykas Milka registered his fourth "double-double" in as many games despite being limited to 27 minutes due to foul trouble. Milka wound up with 11 points and 10 boards.

Also, freshman guard Mical-Ryan Boyd went 4-for-4 from the field and 5-for-5 from the foul line on the way to a season-high 15 points in 26 minutes off bench.

Meanwhile, senior guards Taylor Trevisan and Jakeem Bogans scored 17 points apiece to pace Chestnut Hill (2-3).

Saint Rose walked into the locker room with an eight point, 33-25, lead at the break, but the Griffins went on a 7-0 spurt at the 13:34 mark of the second half that turned a 46-38 deficit into a 46-45 shortfall with 11:11 showing on the clock.

After the Golden Knights responded with a 9-3 charge to go back up by seven, 55-48, with 6:37 left; Chestnut Hill managed to get back to within a point on three more occasions. However, Saint Rose held the Griffins to a mere two field goals throughout the final 4:41 to come away with the win.

In today's first game, Felician (2-3) upended Saint Anselm (1-2) 82-79. Freshman guard Tim Massado tossed in a game-high 25 points for the Golden Falcons, while sophomore forward Mike McCahey led Saint Anselm with 23.

Looking ahead, the Golden Knights are home again Wednesday for their Northeast-10 Conference opener versus Pace University. Tip-off for the nightcap of the league doubleheader is 7:30 pm. The women's game gets underway at 5:30 pm.
