The Golden Knights have won eight games for only the third time in their history.
Box Score

ALBANY–The College of Saint Rose wrapped up one of its finest regular-seasons ever on a bit of a down note via a 2-0 setback to Northeast-10 Conference leader Southern New Hampshire at Sullivan Field at the Plumeri Sports Complex this evening.

Regardless, the Golden Knights (8-9/5-7 NE-10) still have a chance to garner the eighth and final spot in the upcoming NE-10 Championship depending on tomorrow's Stonehill-Le Moyne match in Syracuse. The Skyhawks enter the match two points behind Saint Rose, while the Dolphins have already punched their ticket.

Tonight, the Penmen (16-1/12-1 NE-10) ran their win streak to a staggering 15 straight and thus gave credence to their #10 ranking in the latest NSCAA/Continental Tire NCAA Division II Poll. Southern New Hampshire deliberately created a series of chances that eventually paid off. The game stood scoreless at intermission, but Southern New Hampshire struck 17 minutes apart late in the second half.

Sophomore keeper Colan Balkwell was outstanding between the posts as were seniors Dylan Klippenstein and Jeff Kozlowski, junior Spencer Franks, sophomore Tyler Pomakoy and freshman Justyn Vebraska in the back. Balkwell finished with eight saves as the Penmen delivered 10 shots-on-goal.

The nation's sixth leading goal scorer, senior forward Pierre Omanga provided both markers for the Penmen (15-1/13-0 NE-10). Omanga headed a cross from sophomore back Jonathan Lupinelli into the upper left corner in the 64th minute and then deked his defender near the endline, before delivering a shot that somehow slipped off the near post and in with 80:32 gone by.

On the season, the Golden Knights have reached the eight win mark for the first time since 1990 when they finished 9-8 overall during their NAIA era. In fact, Saint Rose has won eight contests only two other times (1989 and 1990) prior to 2013.
