WORCESTER, MA–Senior forward
Juan Garzon drove home his own rebound with a mere 17 seconds remaining in regulation to lift The College of Saint Rose to a 1-0 victory at
Northeast-10 Conference rival Assumption tonight. In the process, the Golden Knights (5-7-0/2-6-0 NE-10) reached their highest win total since 2005 when they won six matches.
The host Greyhounds (2-6-2/0-6-2 NE-10) manufactured a 20-10 shot differential, including a 10-7 advantage in shots on target, but sophomore keeper
Colan Balkwell was equal to the task to register his first shutout in a Saint Rose uniform. Balkwell made eight of his 10 stops in the first half when Assumption outshot the Golden Knights 13-4.
For the Greyhounds, sophomore keeper Dana King made six saves between the posts.
Looking ahead, both teams have home conference matches Saturday. Saint Rose will host Saint Michael's at 1:00 pm, while the Greyhounds will entertain Southern New Hampshire at 12:00 pm.
