ALBANY – The College of Saint Rose opens its 2012 campaign tonight as it hosts the first of two days of its own Kickoff Tournament. The Golden Knights will square off with Golden-Beacom at Sullivan Field at the Plumeri Sports Complex. Felician and Saint Michael's get things started at 4:30 pm. Saint Rose will the face Felician at 5:30 pm Saturday following the Saint Michael's-Goldey-Beacom 3:00 pm tilt.

Head coach Matt Jones enters his second year at the helm after a first season that included 10 losses decided by one goal.  Saint Rose finished 1-16 overall and 0-13 in the NE-10.  This year's team returns 14 letterwinners, including junior midfielder/back Dylan Klippenstein. Klippenstein generated a goal and an assist for a team-best three points last season.

The Golden Knights once again look to be strong in the back with Klippenstein joined by senior Dan Nilsson and junior Alan McCann who anchored a unit that surrendered 18 fewer goals last autumn than it did in 2010. Senior James Taber figures to see most of the time in net.  A talented group of freshmen are on board including midfielder/forward Massimo Smiroldo who was the 2011 section II Player of the Year out of Colonie Central.

Saint Rose is looking to build on a mix of experience and talented youth. Two keys include finding the back of the net more often and consistently maintaining its organization throughout the pitch.
