Box Score 2 COLCHESTER, VT – Host Saint Michael's took advantage of six errors by The College of Saint Rose in the opener and then stood behind an outstanding pitching performance in the finale to sweep a
Northeast-10 Conference doubleheader from the Golden Knights by respective scores of 5-4 and 10-2 this afternoon.
The Purple Knights (6-14/2-8 NE-10) scored an unearned run with two outs in the ninth to take the first game and then junior right-hander Andrew Duprat scattered three this over the distance in the finale.
A fielding miscue, an intentional walk and an infield single loaded the bases with two outs in the ninth for Saint Michael's in the first contest. Freshman third baseman George Buteau then slapped another infield hit towards the shortstop hole that brought across the winning run.
The Golden Knights (8-17/2-9 NE-10) previously took a 3-0 lead in the third when junior second baseman
Kyle Charron cleared the bases with a double to the left-center field gap. However, Saint Michael's answered with three runs in the home half via an RBI groundout by sophomore second baseman Tyler Wild and a two-run homer off the bat of sophomore first baseman Alex Tice.
The Purple Knights tacked on one more in the sixth and then Saint Rose tied 4-4 an inning later on an infield single by junior catcher #A.J. Capone# who finished 2-for-3.
In the finale, Saint Michael's scored twice in the third on a two-run base hit by Tice and broke the game open with a six-run, fifth. Tice was in the middle of it again with a two-run homer over the left field fence.
Saint Rose got one back in the sixth on an infield base hit by Charron and scored again in the eighth on a Capone sacrifice fly.

Matthew Coleman combined to pitch 4.0 innings of two-hit ball out of the bullpen for the Golden Knights.
Tice finished 3-for-4 with four RBI and three runs scored while freshman shortstop Don McGuirl wound up 2-for-3 with two RBI to lead the Purple Knights.
Looking ahead, both squads have 12:00 pm conference doubleheaders scheduled for tomorrow. Saint Rose will head east to face Saint Anselm in Manchester, NH while Saint Michael's will entertain Le Moyne.
