Box Score ALBANY – Sixteenth-ranked Le Moyne used a trio of big innings to upend The College of Saint Rose 15-5 in a
Northeast-10 Conference matchup this afternoon at
Bob Bellizzi Field at the Plumeri Sports Complex.
Le Moyne (28-8-1/13-4-1 NE-10) scored the first run in the top of the first inning on a pair of walks, two stolen bases and a throwing error. The Dolphins then took command of the game in the third inning when they scored six runs, keyed by a two-run double by sophomore leftfielder Nate Reynolds.
Meanwhile, the Golden Knights (11-22/4-14 NE-10) got their first hits and run in the sixth. Freshman second baseman
Ryan Hooker led off the frame being hit by a pitch. Two batters later with Hooker on second, junior shortstop
Kyle Charron lined a sharp single into center to score Hooker.
However, the Le Moyne bats could not be contained as the Dolphins salted the game away with four runs each in the seventh and ninth.
Saint Rose did make some noise itself in the ninth. Sophomore third baseman Jevonte Osterhaut tripled to lead off the inning. Senior rightfielder
Alex Ferenti came up next and drove his first homerun in a Golden Knights uniform over the rightfield fence to make it 15-3.
Two batters later, Hooker walked followed by a single from senior centerfielder
Nikko Wahl to put runners on the corners. Charron stepped in and doubled into the left-centerfield gap to plate both runners and close the scoring.
Charron wound up 2-for-5 with three RBI and Wahl finished with a pair of base hits to pace the Saint Rose offense. Charron has now hit safely in 11 of his last 12 games and in the process has raised his average 92 points to its current team leading .318.
Junior right-hander Casey Cannon picked up the win after allowing a run on two hits over 7.0 innings. Senior third baseman Matt Marra finished 2-for-5 with four RBI and two doubles to lead the Le Moyne 14-hit attack.
The two clubs each hit the road for a pair of three-game series this weekend. Saint Rose heads to New Haven, while Le Moyne travels to Southern Connecticut State.
