Box Score PLEASANTVILLE, NY – Senior right-hander
Kris Barone allowed only one earned run over the distance for The College of Saint Rose, but host Pace University scored an unearned tally in the first and another in the second to hand the Golden Knights (7-13/1-5 NE-10) a 3-1
Northeast-10 Conference setback today at Finnerty Field.
Barone fanned 10 without issuing a walk and scattered just eight hits. However, Pace (11-10/3-3 NE-10) sophomore right-hander Brian Sundberg was on his game as well. Sundberg allowed a mere three hits and struck out six in a complete game victory.
Junior designated hitter
Caleb Gleason had an RBI double in the first that scored junior second baseman
Kyle Charron with the Golden Knights lone run.
Sophomore DH James Pjura then had an RBI base hit in the bottom of the first that tied it 1-1 and senior first baseman Joe Lombardi scored on an error in the second to afford Sundberg enough support. Senior left fielder Patrick Chaputian then singled up the middle in the eighth that brought across junior shortstop Robert Horn with the game's final run.
Looking ahead, the two teams are scheduled to conclude their weekend series with a 12:00 pm doubleheader Sunday.
