ALBANY – The College of Saint Rose hosts its second
Northeast-10 Conference doubleheader in as many days this afternoon as the Golden Knights welcome Merrimack to
Bob Bellizzi Field at the Plumeri Sports Complex. First pitch is set for 12:00 pm between a pair of clubs that are both aiming snap recent skids.
Last Time Out: UMass Lowell used a four-run inning in each game to sweep a doubleheader from host Saint Rose in the Northeast-10 Conference openers for both clubs yesterday. The River Hawks won the first game 6-1 and then took the finale 11-3. Junior designated hitter
Caleb Gleason had a single in each contest to run his hit streak to 12 games. Senior right-hander
Kris Barone fanned seven and allowed just one run throughout 5.2 innings of a no-decision effort in the opener, while sophomore catcher
Scott Hladik stroked a two-run base hit in the eighth inning of the finale. As for the Warriors, they dropped both ends of yesterday's NE-10 twin-bill at Le Moyne by respective scores of 10-0 and 11-2. Freshman infielder John Pastyrnak and junior designated hitter Joe Mantoni paced Merrimack offensively with two hits each throughout the afternoon.

Cancer Awareness Day: Today is
Cancer Awareness Day throughout the Plumeri Sports Complex. Members of the baseball squad will wear blue shoelaces and their pants up in order to help raise awareness of prostate cancer this afternoon. Furthermore, the bases on the diamond will be painted blue respectively in honor of the day. Donation stations will be located at the field and color coordinated balloons will line the complex as well.
Up Next: Both squads have 3:30 pm NE-10 road games scheduled for Wednesday. The Golden Knights will head to Worcester, MA to take on Assumption, while the Warriors will travel to Waltham, MA to visit Bentley.
