Box Score 2 ALBANY – UMass Lowell used a four-run inning in each game to sweep a doubleheader from The College of Saint Rose in the
Northeast-10 Conference openers for both clubs this afternoon at
Bob Bellizzi Field at the Plumeri Sports Complex. The River Hawks (12-6/2-0 NE-10) won the first game 6-1 and then took the finale 11-3.
UMass Lowell broke up open a 1-1 matinee by pushing across four runs in the seventh and adding another in the ninth. The River Hawks then scored four runs on five Saint Rose errors in the fourth inning of the nightcap. They eventually tacked on two more in sixth, three in the seventh and one in the eighth.

Caleb Gleason had a single in each contest to run his hit streak to 12 games for the Golden Knights (6-10/0-2 NE-10). Senior right-hander
Kris Barone fanned seven and allowed just one run throughout 5.2 innings of a no-decision effort in the opener, while sophomore catcher
Scott Hladik stroked a two-run base hit in the eighth inning of the finale.
Junior second baseman James Katsiroubas went 3-for-5 with a double and a two-run triple to pace UMass Lowell in the first game, while senior center fielder Matt Jacobs led the River Hawks' charge by finishing 4-for-5 with three RBI in the nightcap.
Looking ahead, both teams have conference twin-bills on tap for tomorrow. The Golden Knights will host Merrimack at noon, while the River Hawks are scheduled to continue their trek west on the New York Thruway for a 1:00 pm doubleheader at Le Moyne.
