Last Meeting (10/22/11): After 105 minutes of scoreless soccer, the Skyhawks broke through as Ross Williams put in a cross from Anthony Campagnano to capture the 1-0 (2OT) win. Patrik Ohlsson kept the Golden Knights in the match with 11 saves. Sophomore midfielder Drew Wingate took two shots-on-goal to lead Saint Rose.
Scouting Saint Rose (1-12/1-9 NE-10): In their last home match on Wednesday, October 10; the Golden Knights picked up their first victory of the season. Freshman midfielder Martin Schlegel headed in the only strike of the match to defeat NE-10 rival New Haven 1-0. Junior midfielder Dylan Klippenstein picked up the assist. Meanwhile, freshman midfielder Massimo Smiroldo and sophomore forward Jeff Kozlowski each have two goals on the year for the Golden Knights. Smiroldo also has an assist. Freshman keeper Todd Lawson is credited with the team's lone shutout.
Senior Day 2012: Prior to the start of today's game, the 2012 senior class of James Taber, Dan Nilsson, Steve Richardson, Alan McCann, and Zak Duguay will be honored during a brief ceremony.
Scouting Stonehill (2-11-1/1-9 NE-10): The Skyhawks played their fourth overtime game last Saturday, falling 2-1 to visiting Le Moyne. Stonehill is now 0-3-1 in such contests. Each of the team's two wins was by identical 2-1 scores, the most recent via a home triumph versus American International on Wednesday, October 3. Sophomore back Ben Zandonella has scored three goals and contributed two assists for a team-high eight points. Sophomore midfielder Tyler Brondyk and freshman forward Drew Montano each have six points, behind two goals and two assists apiece. Meanwhile, sophomore keeper Adam Colella's owns a 1.62 goals-against-average throughout eight games.
Up Next: Today's match concludes the home portion of the 2012 Saint Rose schedule, as the final two games are on the road. The first will be next Tuesday at NE-10 rival Southern New Hampshire in Manchester. Kickoff is scheduled for 4:00 pm. The Skyhawks on the other hand return home for their final two matches, starting with Tuesday's 3:30 pm conference date versus Saint Anselm in Easton, MA.
