Box Score SPRINGFIELD, MA – Host American International scored in the opening two minutes of the second half to afford itself some breathing room en route to a 2-0 victory against The College of Saint Rose in a
Northeast-10 Conference encounter tonight.
Freshman midfielder Jason Burnusz scored what held up as the game-winner when he struck home a feed from senior midfielder Conor Doyle with 22:50 elapsed. Junior midfielder Miguel Rodriguez-Lapman then added an insurance tally for the Yellow Jackets (4-8-2/4-4-2 NE-10) at the 46:26 mark.
The match was fairly evenly played with American International generating a 22-18 shot differential and a 9-5 edge in corner kicks. The Golden Knights (1-12/1-9 NE-10) were able to engineer a pair of corners in the final minute, but ultimately could not cut into their deficit.
Senior keeper
James Taber recorded seven saves for Saint Rose, while junior keeper Jason Ryan turned aside five shots-on-target for the Yellow Jackets who snapped a two-game skid.
Looking ahead, both teams have conference dates on tap for Saturday. The Golden Knights are scheduled to host league rival Stonehill at 1:00 pm. The “Senior Day” game is tentatively scheduled to be streamed live on
