The Plot: The College of Saint Rose welcomes the University of New Haven for a Northeast-10 Conference match at Sullivan Field at the Plumeri Sports Complex this afternoon.
Last Meeting (10/11/11): Host New Haven scored just two minutes into the second overtime to clinch a 2-1 victory in West Haven, CT. Sophomore back Tim Hines put in the game-winner off a feed from senior back Austin Coleman, his second assist of the day. Patrik Ohlsson helped keep Saint Rose in the match with nine saves.
Scouting Saint Rose (0-10/0-7 NE-10): The Golden Knights are coming off of Saturday's gritty performance versus UMass Lowell. Despite being defeated 4-2, Saint Rose kept the River Hawks on their toes throughout the afternoon. Senior back Dan Nilsson made the most of his first appearance of the year by scoring a goal in the second half that tied it 2-2. Sophomore forward Jeff Kozlowski netted the first Saint Rose goal giving him a share of the team lead of two markers on the season. Freshman midfielder Massimo Smiroldo also has a pair of strikes to go with an assist for a team-leading five points. Senior keeper James Taber has made 28 saves in seven matches.
Scouting New Haven (4-6-1/1-5-1 NE-10): The Chargers started off the season by winning three of their first four matches. Senior forward Joseph D'Antonio has scored six goals for all of his team-high 12 points, despite only playing in eight games. Senior keeper Anastasios Petridis has started all but one contest. He owns a 1.51 goals-against-average on the strength of 41 saves.
Domestic Violence Awareness: Starting with today's men's soccer and women's volleyball matches and continuing with Saturday's women's soccer game, the Golden Knights coaching staffs and student-athletes, along with members of the Saint Rose student affairs office, will be wearing purple pins to help spread awareness for domestic violence.
