GOLDEN KNIGHTS OUTLAST MOLLOY 3-2

Freshman libero Katy Daniels finished one shy of her season-high with 22 kills
ROCKVILLE CENTRE, NY – The College of Saint Rose women's volleyball team needed five sets to hold off host Molloy College 3-2 in a non-conference match tonight at Quealy Gymnasium. The Golden Knights are now 2-1 this year in contests that have gone the distance, which also allowed them to push their season-long win streak to seven matches.

The fifth set alone saw 13 ties and four lead changes. Saint Rose dug itself a 10-8 deficit, but took advantage of a bad set, an ace by freshman setter Ariana Wilson and an attack error by the Lions to take the lead for good on the way to an 18-16 decision. Previously, the Golden Knights (7-2) grabbed 25-18 and 25-19 victories in the first and third sets, while Molloy (4-9) answered with 26-24 and 25-19 triumphs in sets two and four.

Senior outside hitter Sarah Kahrs led the Saint Rose attack for the third consecutive match behind a season-high 18 kills. Sophomore outside hitter Christina Strezenec and junior right side hitter Kaitlyn Jasnica contributed 10 and nine kills respectively.

Also for the Golden Knights, freshman defensive specialist Tori Daniels and Wilson passed out 26 and 24 assists. Tori's twin sister, Katy Daniels, finished one shy of her season-high with 22 digs.

The Lions received nearly half of their offensive production from senior outside hitter Angelica Nicalek. Nicalek hit .288 with a match-high 26 kills via 52 swings. Sophomore defensive specialist Blair Silvestri added 23 digs as well.

Saint Rose wastes no time returning to action. The Golden Knights head to New York Institute of Technology for a non-conference match at noon. Meanwhile, Molloy travels to the University of the District of Columbia for an East Coast Conference match at 3:00 pm Sunday.
