WORCESTER, MA – The College of Saint Rose was hurt by 29.1 percent (16-for-55) shooting and 22 turnovers that host Assumption carved into 26 points on the way to a 63-44 Northeast-10 Conference victory versus the Golden Knights tonight at Laska Gymnasium.
Junior guard
Ola Shajuyigbe was in double-figures scoring for the fifth consecutive game to lead Saint Rose (14-6/10-6 NE-10). Shajuyigbe wound up with 11 points, while fellow junior guard
Adrianna Gaeta tied her career-high with nine points throughout 19 minutes of reserve duty.
The Greyhounds (15-5/13-3 NE-10) closed out the final four minutes of the first half with an 8-2 spurt that afforded them a 32-20 advantage at the break. They then led by double-digits throughout the final 20 minutes and again closed strong by scoring 11 of the final 15 points to run their win streak to four games.
Junior forward Kelly Meredith tossed in a game-high 23 points, on 10-for-15 shooting from the floor, and sophomore guard Katy Howard scored 16 points to pace the Greyhounds, who also got eight points and 14 rebounds from senior forward Molly Griffiths.
Looking ahead, both squads have 1:30 pm league dates on tap for Saturday. The Golden Knights will host American International, while the Greyhounds will travel to Pleasantville, NY to meet Pace University.
