The Plot: The College of Saint Rose is going after its first win of the year, while trying to extend the College's current 6-2 lead in the year-long “Upstate Challenge” versus Le Moyne.

Scouting Saint Rose (0-3/0-1 NE-10): Four starters and six of the team's top-seven scorers are back from a year ago…The Golden Knights were picked to finish 4th in the 16-team Northeast-10 Conference preseason coaches' poll.…They are however 0-3 for the first time in their 21-year NCA era…Two of those setback have come in overtime…Saint Rose has earned 12 NCAA Tournament bids throughout its 20-year NCAA Division II era....Brian Beaury is eighth all-time in victories among NCAA II active mentors…Senior forward Brian Hanuschak is 14 rebounds shy of become only the 12th player in school annals to haul in 600 career boards.

Scouting Le Moyne (1-1/0-1 NE-10): The Dolphins are playing the final of three straight games on the road to open the season…Le Moyne is coming off of Saturday's 73-53 non-league win at Mercy, which followed last Wednesday's 84-59 season-opening setback at conference rival Pace. Senior guard Chris Johnson is tossing in a team-high 11.5 points per-game in 31.0 minutes off the bench, while sophomore guard Nate Champion and sophomore forward Brian Zapisek are averaging 11.0 and 10.5 points respectively. The latter also paces the squad with 7.5 boards per-outing.

The Series: Saint Rose owns a 20-5 lead in the series that dates back to 1991. The two clubs have split the last six meetings, although the Golden Knights have taken 11 of the last 12 games in Albany.

The Upstate Challenge: Saint Rose and Le Moyne have announced the formation of a new annual rivalry series, “The Upstate Challenge”.  Beginning this fall, the two schools will square off in 14 sports in which they each compete head-to-head in the regular season or during the Northeast-10 Conference Championship. The winner of the series will be awarded the first “Upstate Challenge Trophy”.

Up Next: Both squads return to conference action Sunday. The Golden Knights have a 3:30 pm date at Southern Connecticut in New Haven, while the Dolphins are set to host Assumption at 3:00 pm in Syracuse.
