SPRINGFIELD, MA – The College of Saint Rose women's volleyball team resumed play today at the Northeast-Mid Atlantic Invitational that is being hosted by Northeast-10 Conference rival American International College. The Golden Knights battled perennial power Lock Haven early this morning, but to no avail as the Eagles handed Saint Rose a 3-1 (21-25, 25-22, 16-25, 16-25) setback. In the nightcap, the Golden Knights dropped their fourth straight following a 3-0 (25-12, 25-12, 25-15) loss versus Wilmington (DE).
In today's opener, senior middle hitter
Kelly Ryan and junior outside hitter
Sarah Kahrs combined for 21 kills to pace the Saint Rose attack. Ryan wound up with nine kills and four blocks, while Kahrs finished with 12 kills and 11 digs.
Additionally, junior setter
Theresa Staulo handed out 21 assists to go along with four kills.
In game two against the Wildcats, Ryan contributed four kills and three blocks. Meanwhile, freshman defensive specialist
Christina Strezenec came up with nine digs to lead the defensive unit.
Looking ahead, the Golden Knights have seven days until they resume action next Saturday. Caldwell College and Mercy College are scheduled to arrive in Albany for a non-league twin-bill beginning at noon.
