WALTHAM, MA – The College of Saint Rose took the nightcap of a Northeast-10 Conference doubleheader 5-2 and thus closed out its 2010 season on a high note at Bentley University today. The host Falcons won the opener by an identical 5-2 score.
The Golden Knights (15-30/9-17 NE-10) scored two runs in the first and two more in the third en route to a 4-1 lead and then added another in the fifth, before Bentley (21-24/13-13 NE-10) scored a run in the seventh after pushing one across in the home half of the first.
Junior right-hander
Doug Dulin tossed a complete game eight-hitter with nine strikeouts en route to his fourth win of the year for Saint Rose. Junior center fielder
Garret Keenan finished 3-for-5 and freshman left fielder
Scott Hladik went 2-for-4 with two RBI to pace the Golden Knights offense. Senior catcher
Derek Marshall and senior third baseman
Zachary Halloran also had two hits each.
Saint Rose produced both of its runs with two outs in the first as Marshall drove a double to right that scored sophomore second baseman
Michael Carbone. Halloran then slapped an infielder single that moved Marshall to third; who scored via a Bentley throwing error on the play.
Two innings later, Marshall came across via a wild pitch and Halloran touched home on a groundout by Hladik. Keenan then scored the final run in the fifth when Hladik lined a base hit to the gap in left-center.
Junior right fielder Chris Hardy and sophomore left fielder Mark Lane had two hits apiece to pace the host Falcons.
In the opener, Bentley scored three runs in the third and then made it 5-0 with a run in the fourth and another in the fifth. Saint Rose scored once in both the seventh and ninth frames.
An RBI double by senior second baseman Charlie Pagliarulo and back-to-back run scoring singles by junior third baseman Ross Curley and Hardy accounted for the Falcons three runs in the third. Saint Rose senior left-hander
Jake Kozar then struck out the final batter with the bases loaded to avoid further damage.

Caleb Gleason finished 2-for-4 with an RBI and junior first baseman
Grant Smith went 2-for-3 with an RBI and a walk to lead the Golden Knights. Sophomore right-hander

Eric Hilton allowed only a pair of hits throughout 2.0 innings of work collectively out of the bullpen.
Freshman first baseman Lamarre Rey went 3-for-4 and scored a pair of runs, while Pagliarulo finished 2-for-4 with three RBI to lead the Bentley attack. Freshman right-hander John Yohe scattered nine hits and allowed only one earned run over the distance en route his third victory of the season.
