STONEHILL SWEEPS SAINT ROSE IN 2010 FINALE

Senior middle hitter Kelly Ryan led Saint Rose with 10 kills behind a .474 hitting percentage in her final match in a Golden Knights uniform
EASTON, MA – Host Stonehill College limited The College of Saint Rose women's volleyball team to a .120 hitting percentage en route to a 3-0 (16-25, 20-25, 20-25) victory over the Golden Knights in a Northeast-10 Conference match at Merkert Gymnasium this afternoon. Stonehill has now won three in a row and is in position to compete in next weekend's league tournament, while Saint Rose closes out its 2010 campaign following today's match.

Senior middle hitter Kelly Ryan ended her four-year career for the Golden Knights (6-21/3-12 NE-10) on a high note. Ryan tied for match-high honors with 10 kills on the strength of a sizzling .474 hitting percentage. Ryan was credited with a mere one error in 19 chances. Meanwhile, sophomore defensive specialist Laura Falkowitz and freshman outside hitter Christina Strezenec wound up with 10 digs apiece.

The Skyhawks (15-12/11-4 NE-10) received at least five kills from six different players led by senior middle blocker Anna Berthiaume. Berthiaume finished with 10 kills and a pair of aces, while junior outside hitter Laura Huselton and senior right side hitter Erin Johnson contributed eight kills apiece.

Senior setter Andrew Wirth and sophomore setter Erin Kelly virtually split time running the offense for Stonehill. Wirth ended up dishing out 23 assists, while Kelly handed out 19.

Looking ahead, Saint Rose is expected to return all but one of its 13 letterwinners in 2011. Meanwhile, the Skyhawks will await their quarterfinal opponent as the conference tournament gets going next weekend.
