BENTLEY GETS PAST SAINT ROSE 3-1

Sophomore defensive specialist Laura Falkowitz led the defensive unit with 20 digs
WALTHAM, MA – The College of Saint Rose women's volleyball team knotted things 1-1, but host Bentley University used a balanced attack to take a 3-1 (18-25, 20-25, 23-25, 18-25) Northeast-10 Conference victory over the Golden Knights tonight at the Dana Center. The Falcons have now won six of their last eight matches, while Saint Rose is winless in five straight.

Three players reached double-figures in digs to lead the defensive unit for the Golden Knights (6-20/3-11 NE-10). Sophomore defensive specialist Laura Falkowitz paced Saint Rose with 20 digs. Meanwhile, junior outside hitter Sarah Kahrs and junior middle hitter Chelsea Tyler added 18 and 11 digs respectively. Tyler also dished out 25 assists in her third career start as the club's setter.

Additionally, sophomore outside hitter Kayleigh Quinn spearheaded the offensive effort for Saint Rose with 11 kills. Freshman middle hitter Alex Gagliano filled up the box score to the tune of six aces, five blocks, four digs and three kills.

Bentley (16-13/9-5 NE-10) had five players register at least five kills led by senior outside hitter Andrea Farah and freshman outside hitter Ashley Ahearn. Farah wound up with 15 kills, seven digs and a pair of aces, while Ahearn added 13 kills and six digs.

After the Golden Knights tied things at 1-1, they found themselves down one in the third set, 23-22, following a kill by Quinn. Bentley senior middle blocker Alaura Berry answered with a kill of her own, but Farah was credited with an attack error to again cut the Saint Rose deficit to one. Farah bounced back with a kill that afforded the Falcons a close 25-23 triumph.

In the fourth set, Bentley raced out to an 18-8 lead and never looked back. The Golden Knights managed only four kills in the frame, as opposed to 11 by the Falcons. Saint Rose also committed seven attack errors.

Both squads return to action tomorrow in the final regular-season contests of their respective 2010 slates. The Golden Knights head to Stonehill College for a 1:00 pm league match, while Bentley hosts Le Moyne College at 1:00 pm.
