The Golden Knights raced out to a 14-2 lead over the first five minutes and maintained no less than a seven-point advantage the rest of the way. Bromirski and Gutierrez highlighted the jaunt with a 3-pointer and a conventional three point play, while Hanuschak and Pope each added a pair of buckets as well.
Saint Rose then created a comfortable cushion later in the period by going on a 17-5 run to walk into the locker room with a 50-27 advantage. Hanuschak capped off a spectacular half of basketball for the Golden Knights with an alley-oop off a Bromirski feed just before the buzzer.
The lead ballooned to as many as 32, 79-47, throughout the opening 11 minutes of the second stanza and Saint Rose buried 6-of-10 attempts from beyond the arc while limiting Holy Family to just a 3-for-17 effort from long range during the final 20 minutes.
In today's opener, Saint Anselm helped cap off a perfect weekend of basketball for the two NE-10 schools in action as the Hawks held off Dominican College 91-80. Much like the Golden Knights, Saint Anselm never trailed, led by as many as 28 points at the midway point of the second half and had senior guard Thomas Baudinet fill up the box score with 30 points, eight rebounds and five assists.
Saint Rose is scheduled to open up its league slate Wednesday night when Assumption College arrives in Albany for a 7:30 pm tip-off.
