SOUTHERN CONNECTICUT OUTLASTS SAINT ROSE

Sophomore defensive specialist Laura Falkowitz was one of four Saint Rose players in double-figures in digs
ALBANY – The College of Saint Rose women's volleyball team had match-point spoiled by visiting Southern Connecticut State University and the Owls went on to hand the Golden Knights a 3-2 (20-25, 25-22, 12-25, 25-22, 14-16) setback in a Northeast-10 Conference match this afternoon at the Daniel P. Nolan Gymnasium.

Saint Rose (4-14/2-5 NE-10) led 14-13 in the fifth and deciding set, but a service error and consecutive attack errors by the Golden Knights allowed Southern to take a 16-14 triumph. The two clubs split the first four sets by respective scores of 20-25, 25-22, 12-25 and 25-22.

Four players reached double-figures in digs this afternoon for Saint Rose led by freshman defensive specialist Christina Strezenec who finished with a season-high 33 digs to lead all players. Meanwhile, junior outside hitter Sarah Kahrs had a “double-double” performance after putting up a season-high 18 kills to go along with 18 digs.

Also for the Golden Knights, sophomore defensive specialists Laura Falkowitz and Nikki Robitaille added 11 digs and 10 digs. Furthermore, senior middle hitter Kelly Ryan registered nine kills and three blocks and freshman middle hitter Alex Gagliano recorded nine kills, six blocks and four aces.

The Owls had three players find twin-figures in kills led by junior outside hitter Megan Lyons. Lyons wound up with a match-high 20 kills, picked up 13 digs and served up four aces. Freshman outside hitter Lauren McVey also had a solid day behind 15 digs and 10 kills, while sophomore setter Kimberly Lachowicz dished out 50 assists.
