LE MOYNE TOO MUCH FOR GOLDEN KNIGHTS

Junior setter Theresa Staulo (left) finished with 31 assists, six kills and four digs
ALBANY – The College of Saint Rose women's volleyball team committed 18 receiving errors, which led to a like number of service aces for visiting Le Moyne College as the Dolphins went on to hand the Golden Knights a 3-1 (15-25, 24-26, 25-18, 15-25) setback in a Northeast-10 Conference match tonight at the Daniel P. Nolan Gymnasium. Le Moyne has now taken four consecutive meetings between the two squads.

Junior outside hitter Sarah Kahrs and senior middle hitter Kelly Ryan contributed 11 and 10 kills respectively to lead Saint Rose (4-12/2-4 NE-10), which hit .222 as a team. Meanwhile, junior setter Theresa Staulo added 31 assists, six kills and four digs.

The Dolphins (10-7/3-3 NE-10) had two players reach double-figures in kills and digs. Junior middle hitter Kelli Willets and sophomore outside hitter Allison Hebel combined for 21 of the club's 39 kills. Willets hit .421 after chalking up 11 kills and three errors in 19 attempts, while Hebel added 10 kills and seven digs.

Additionally, Le Moyne sophomore outside hitter Bethany Fabian led all players with 18 digs.

The Golden Knights raced out to a 6-0 lead in the first set, but the Dolphins outscored Saint Rose 25-9 the rest of the way to close things out. The Golden Knights then found themselves up one, 24-23, in set two, but Le Moyne senior right side hitter Krista Prentice tied things with a kill, Hebel dropped in another and Prentice finished things off with an ace to cap a 26-24 triumph.

Saint Rose finally got things going in set three after hitting .323 with a mere two errors in 31 swings on the way to a 25-18 victory. However, the Dolphins turned in a stifling hitting display themselves in the fourth set with 11 kills in 20 attempts for a .400 percentage.

Saint Rose has a pair of home matches on tap this weekend beginning Friday night when the Golden Knights host New York Institute of Technology in a 7:00 pm non-league affair. Meanwhile, Le Moyne is scheduled to host the University of New Haven at noon Saturday in Syracuse.
