GOLDEN KNIGHTS HOLD OFF POST 3-1

Senior middle hitter Kelly Ryan hit .421 with 11 kills to help Saint Rose earn its first road win of 2010
WATERBURY, CT – The College of Saint Rose women's volleyball team won the final two sets by a collective five points as the Golden Knights defeated Post University a 3-1 (25-17, 19-25, 25-22, 25-23) in a non-conference match tonight. In the process, Saint Rose picked up its first road win of the year while handing the Eagles their seventh straight setback.

A pair of Golden Knights (5-14) reached double-figures in kills. Junior outside hitter Sarah Kahrs wound up with 12 kills and 10 digs, while senior middle hitter Kelly Ryan hit .421 with 11 kills in 19 swings and a mere three errors.

Additionally, freshman defensive specialist Christina Strezenec led the back row with 14 digs and sophomore defensive specialist Nikki Robitaille added 10 digs for Saint Rose.

Post doomed itself by committing 13 of its 21 attack errors throughout the final two sets. Regardless, junior right side hitter Elizabeth Knight and freshman middle hitter Stephanie Zarakas led the way with eight kills apiece. Sophomore defensive specialist Courtney Braun contributed a match-high 16 digs as well.

Up next, Saint Rose heads to Saint Anselm College Friday night for a 7:30 pm Northeast-10 Conference match in Manchester, NH. Meanwhile, Post heads to Goldey-Beacom College Saturday for a 1:00 pm league date.
