However, the Owls had the final say in the seventh when junior shortstop Megan Caporossi doubled in a run, before scoring the eventual winner one batter later on a single to left by senor first baseman Brittany Gandley.
Sophomore designated player
Alyssa Farrell had a pair of base hits in three at-bats for the Golden Knights, while Caporossi and Gandley both went 3-for-5 on the strength of back-to-back home runs in the third for the Owls.
In the finale, Southern Connecticut took advantage of two Saint Rose errors to push across five runs in the fourth after the Golden Knights had manufactured a run in the third. Saint Rose whittled its deficit to 5-3 in the fifth thanks to a two RBI base hit by Morano, but the Owls broke it open with five more runs in the seventh.
Morano drove in all three Saint Rose runs, while freshman right fielder Alyssa Pagano went 3-for-5 and senior catcher Christina Wolf belted her second home run of the evening with a two-run shot in the seventh to pace Southern Connecticut.
