SAINT ROSE FALLS AT SAINT MICHAEL'S 64-55

Senior center Lauren Revesz
COLCHESTER, VT – Host Saint Michael's outscored The College of Saint Rose 37-24 and limited the Golden Knights (13-8/8-8 NE-10) to 28.1 percent (9-for-32) shooting from the floor throughout the second period en route to a 64-55 victory tonight. The setback snaps a four-game win streak for Saint Rose, and allows the Purple Knights (11-10/8-9 NE-10) to halt a three-game skid.

Senior center Lauren Revesz led the Saint Rose scoring parade for the fourth straight game with 16 points and five rebounds. Sophomore forward Amy Voelkel finished with 11 points and eight boards in 28 minutes off the bench; while senior guard Dana Brown and junior backcourt mate Elizabeth Buckley added 12 and 10 points respectively.

Saint Rose walked into the locker room with a 31-27 lead at intermission, but Saint Michael's forged a 17-4 outburst that transformed a 37-29 deficit with 18:14 remaining into a 46-41 advantage with 9:56 showing on the clock. Junior forward Michelle Otey converted a layup to ignite the run, junior guard Alexis Keller drained a 3-pointer to afford the game its first tie, 39-39, and then Otey drained a jumper to cap it.

Voelkel knocked down a 3-pointer of her own to break the ice and then Revesz hit a pair of free throws to deadlock the game at 46-46, but the Purple Knights scored six unanswered points to go ahead 54-48 with 3:51 remaining. Saint Michael's then took care of business by converting 10-of-14 from the foul line throughout the final 3:01.

The first half was quite a different story. After the Purple Knights got out to a 3-0 lead, Saint Rose scored 20 of the game's next 24 points to open up a 20-7 advantage. However, in a sign of things to come, the Golden Knights managed only two field goals throughout the ensuing nine minutes that allowed Saint Michael's to pull within six, 25-19, with 5:24 remaining. Saint Rose twice pushed its lead back to seven, but sophomore forward Logan Pintka closed the half by going 1-of-2 from the stripe and finishing inside to make it a four-point affair.

Keller finished with 20 points, 11 rebounds and five assists while going the entire 40 minutes to lead Saint Michael's. Pintka had 14 points, while Otey and senior center Anna Florent added 12 and 11 respectively.

Both clubs get back on the hardwood this weekend. The Golden Knights return home Saturday to face Saint Anselm at 1:30 pm. It will be a “Think Pink” celebration with all monies collected at the gate going towards the fight against cancer. Meanwhile, Saint Michael's has a 1:30 pm date Sunday at Pace University in Pleasantville.
