WORCESTER, MA – The College of Saint Rose went just 1-for-12 from 3-point territory in the second half after going 9-for-13 during the initial 20 minutes that allowed host Assumption to erase a six point halftime deficit and subsequently hand the Golden Knights a 90-78 setback in the Northeast-10 Conference opener for both clubs tonight.

Shea Bromirski led Saint Rose with 21 points while senior guard
Jermaine Clark finished with 17 points, four rebounds and four assists. Sophomore forward
Brian Hanuschak had 15 points and six rebounds, and freshman guard
Andre Pope added 11 points.
As for Assumption (2-0/1-0 NE-10), sophomore forward Tim Beinert went 7-for-8 from the floor to lead five players in double figures scoring with 18 points. He also pulled down nine rebounds and handed out five assists. Senior forward Savoy Fraine had 16 points and senior guard Courtland Bluford tossed home 15. Meanwhile, junior forward Mike Baldarelli and freshman guard Bobby Harris added 11 and 10 respectively.
Assumption took control from the opening tip of the second half. The Greyhounds limited Saint Rose (1-1/0-1 NE-10) to a pair of field goals during the first 11:30 of the period that allowed them to go on a 30-9 tear. The run turned a 47-41 Saint Rose lead at the break into a 71-56 advantage for Assumption.
Saint Rose cut its deficit to single digits at 84-75 following a three point play by Pope with 1:17 left, but the Greyhounds scored six unanswered points during the next minute to push their margin back to 15, 90-75, with 33 seconds to go.
Up next, Saint Rose returns home Saturday to host American International in the second half of an NE-10 doubleheader. Tip-off is set for 3:30 pm. Meanwhile, Assumption has a 7:30 pm date at league rival New Haven on Tuesday.
