GOLDEN KNIGHTS SNAP FOUR-GAME SKID WITH 70-58 VICTORY AT BLOOMFIELD

Junior guard Elizabeth Buckley
BLOOMFIELD, NJ – The College of Saint Rose halted a four-game skid in convincing fashion behind a 70-58 non-conference victory at Bloomfield tonight. The Golden Knights (6-4) led wire-to-wire, outrebounded the host Lady Deacons (4-6) by a 46-34 margin, and limited them to 37.3 percent (22-for-59) shooting from the floor.

Junior guard Elizabeth Buckley led Saint Rose with 18 points, 13 after halftime, while senior center Lauren Revesz finished with 17 points, eight rebounds and four assists. Senior forward Ashley Anderson registered her second “double-double” of the year behind 14 points and 11 rebounds; and sophomore guard Lynsey Timbrouck added six points and seven assists to help the Golden Knights cause.

Saint Rose asserted itself from the outset by jumping out to an 11-2 lead that grew to a 13 point, 29-16, advantage with 8:16 remaining after Timbrouck knocked down a jumper. Bloomfield managed to get it back to within 10, 33-23, when sophomore guard Robyn Burton scored from the perimeter. However, the Golden Knights responded with four unanswered points and eventually went into the locker room up 11, 39-28, at the break.

The opening of the second period was reminiscent of the game's initial stages. Bloomfield cut its deficit to single digits, 39-31, following a 3-pointer from junior guard Jaleesa Coleman. Once again the Golden Knights countered. Saint Rose tallied eight unanswered points to take a commanding 16 point, 47-31, lead with 17:42 remaining. Revesz scored inside, Brown finished a fastbreak and Buckley knocked down back-to-back jumpers to account for the run.

Saint Rose maintained a double-digit advantage pretty much the rest of the way. Bloomfield managed to get to within seven, 61-54, with 5:38 left; but the Golden Knights held the Lady Deacons scoreless throughout the next three minutes to establish themselves as the inevitable victor.

Burton wound up 16 points and five assists in 33 minutes off the bench, while Coleman finished with 12 points in 28 minutes of reserve duty for Bloomfield as Saint Rose held the Lady Deacon's starting five to a mere 18 points collectively.

Both teams have non-conference games set for Saturday. Saint Rose returns home for a 2:00 pm meeting versus C.W. Post, while Bloomfield has a 1:00 pm date with visiting Pace University.
