SAINT ROSE WOMEN’S SOCCER CHALKS UP FOURTH STRAIGHT SHUTOUT

Sophomore Jazmine Farrell
EASTON, MA – The College of Saint Rose women's soccer team did not allow a goal for the fourth straight game as the Golden Knights upended Stonehill 4-0 this afternoon in a Northeast-10 Conference match at Skyhawk Field. It represents the longest shutout streak of the season for Saint Rose, which has now won six consecutive outings.

The Golden Knights (11-3-1/8-2-1 NE-10) took a 1-0 advantage in the 16th minute when sophomore midfielder Coco Ebersole took a feed from sophomore forward Jazmine Farrell and fired a shot from the top of the penalty box that beat Stonehill freshman keeper Sarah Hickey.

Just under 10 minutes into the second stanza, Farrell found herself on the receiving end of a lobbed pass from senior forward Kailey Egbert. Farrell one-timed the bouncing ball from just inside the box for a 2-0 Saint Rose edge.

The Golden Knights put the finishing touches on their ninth multi-goal affair of the season by adding a pair of strikes from junior midfielder Lizzie Shegda and freshman forward Gianna D'Errico. Both scores came within a 1:22 span during the final six minutes of play.

For the match, Saint Rose generated a 16-11 margin in shots and an 8-1 advantage in corner kicks.

Junior keeper Shannon Murphy and sophomore Jillian Lyons did their best to preserve the club's league-leading ninth shutout of the year. Murphy stopped three shots in the first half, while Lyons made four saves throughout the final 45 minutes of action. Hickey registered six saves for the Skyhawks.

Saint Rose heads to Le Moyne on Wednesday for a 3:00 pm start in its final NE-10 road match of the year. Stonehill will also play its final road match of the season on Tuesday when the Skyhawks visit league newcomer New Haven. Kickoff is set for 4:00 pm.
