DOBBS FERRY, N.Y.- The College of Saint Rose men's lacrosse team played its first game of the 2024 season today at #10 Mercy, with the host Mavericks coming out on top 20-9.
Sophomore attack
Noah Gibson and sophomore midfielder
Jack Rice each struck twice for Saint Rose, while the attack group of junior
Jackson Spikereit, graduate
Eddie Baker, senior
Cam Smith, senior
Paul Wright, and freshman
Alex Johanson all netted solo scores.
Spikereit, Baker, sophomore midfield
David Goll, graduate attack
Greg Walsh, and sophomore attack
Aiden Blouin were each credited with assists as well.
The two sides played even across the first 15 minutes, as Smith's un-assisted strike with 5:05 left in the second quarter put the Golden Knights down by just one score. 13 consecutive goals from the Mavericks would put things away after that.
Brody Caskenette and Greg Gibbons found the back of the net four times each to lead Mercy. The Mavericks generated a 49-28 shot advantage over the Golden Knights.
Looking forward, Saint Rose will next face Bridgeport in a 12:00 pm non-conference road matchup on Saturday.
