GOLDEN KNIGHTS COME BACK FROM SIX GOALS DOWN IN THE FOURTH QUARTER TO DEFEAT POST IN OVERTIME

WATERBURY, Conn.- The College of Saint Rose men's lacrosse stormed back in the fourth quarter to defeat the Post University Eagles 16-15 in overtime this afternoon. The Golden Knights captured their first win of the season by scoring eight of the game's final 10 goals to erase a 14-8 fourth-quarter deficit.

Saint Rose got the game winner with under two minutes to go in the overtime period when freshman midfield Noah Gibson tucked a shot under the crossbar to beat Eagles goalie Cole George. The walk-off goal was Gibson's fifth score on the day, a career-high for the Golden Knight midfielder, who led all scorers in the win.

Junior attack Paul Wright helped send Saint Rose to the extra session before Gibson's overtime winner, as he netted a game-tying strike with only two seconds remaining in the fourth quarter to level the action at 15-15.

Wright was one of 10 Golden Knights to find the back of the net this afternoon, as the 16 goals by Saint Rose marks the team's highest scoring output in its last 18 games.

Senior attack Eddie Baker wasted no time opening the scoresheet, tallying the game's first goal just 30 seconds into the contest. Baker had a game-high six points, as he finishing with two goals and four assists.

Post took a 4-2 lead into the second quarter, but a quick strike from Saint Rose senior attack Cam Smith on a feed from senior midfielder Gabriel Nish (one goal, one assist) would cut the lead in half. Another Gibson score would knot things up at 4-4.

The Eagles would net three straight goals to make it 7-4, however the Golden Knights would quickly answer, with sophomore attack Jackson Spikereit, senior attack Anthony Barone, and sophomore midfield Brady Frys scoring in succession to bring Saint Rose right back.

After seven minutes of scoreless play to start the second half, Post would rattle off seven of the next eight goals to stake a 14-8 in the early moments of the final stanza.

From there, the Golden Knight comeback was on, beginning with goals by senior attack Greg Walsh and sophomore midfielder West Chateaux to make it 14-10.

The Golden Knights still trailed by three with under two minutes to play, however goals by Gibson and Baker would make it a one score game with 30 seconds left to play, leading to a dramatic strike by Wright with two seconds remaining in regulation.

Saint Rose outshot the Eagles by a 46-34 margin and owned the only shot taken by either team in overtime, which resulting in the game-winner from Gibson.

Looking forward, Saint Rose will be back in action on Tuesday at 11:00AM against Chestnut Hill in Philadelphia, PA.
