WORCESTER, Mass. – The College of Saint Rose held Assumption to one goal for 26 of the game's final 30 minutes, but could not overcome a 9-3 halftime deficit into today's 10-7 Northeast-10 Conference setback at Assumption.
The Greyhounds (3-8/2-6 NE10) generated a 29-22 shot-on-goal advantage and won the ground ball battle 30-22.

Gabriel Nish scored two goals apiece, while fifth year midfielder

Eddie Baker each had a goal and assist to lead the Golden Knights (7-7/2-5 NE10) offense.

Cam Smith each came up with three ground balls. Junior goalie
Ryan Fleming made 19 saves.
Assumption scored seven unanswered strikes throughout a 17-minute stretch than spanned the first and second periods to open up a 7-1 lead with 9:16 to go until intermission. Smith previously finished a feed from
Jack Pemrick to put Saint Rose ahead 1-0 in the game's opening two minutes.
Loughlin registered both of his goals late in the second to make it a 9-3 affair at halftime and Nish struck with 13:00 left in the third to pull the Golden Knights to within 9-4. Pemrick and Nish then scored midway through the fourth to get the Golden Knights back to within three, 9-6, and Baker found the back of the cage with an unassisted strike to make it a two-goal affair with 4:53 remaining.
That is as close as it got though as sophomore attack Ryan Healy scored 31 seconds later for Assumption to wrap up the day's scoring.
Freshman attack Cameron Theriault finished with three goals and an assist, Healy found the cage three times as well, and junior attack Nolan Sheehan set up three scores to lead the Greyhounds offensive unit. Sheehan also scooped up a team-high five ground balls, while sophomore goalie Colin Malone turned aside 15 threats-on-target.
Looking ahead, Saint Rose is back home Wednesday to face #2 and two-time defending NE10 Champion Le Moyne at 2:00 pm. Assumption is off until next Saturday when it travels to Springfield to meet American International at 1:00 pm.
Notes: Four of the Golden Knights seven setbacks have come at the hands of nationally ranked teams…Their seven wins are tied for second most in program history…Saint Rose won nine games in 2018 and seven in its inaugural 2012 campaign as well…
Jack Pemrick made a school record 56th career start today and his two points marked the 100th and 101st of his career, which makes him just the seventh Saint Rose player to record 100 career points…Baker has at least one goal in each game this season…His 35 ties him for the league lead.
