SAINT ROSE FALLS AT NE10 RIVAL SOUTHERN NEW HAMPSHIRE

MANCHESTER, N.H. – Host Southern New Hampshire scored five unanswered goals within a 10-minute span that bridged the first and second quarters to upend The College of Saint Rose 17-5 in Northeast-10 Conference action today.

The Golden Knights generated a 31-30 shot-on-goal differential, but senior goalie Alex Sturgess recorded 24 saves to help the Penmen (4-4/3-4 NE10) extend their win streak to three games.

Junior midfielder Gabriel Nish scored four goals and fifth year attack Jack Pemrick finished with a goal and an assist for Saint Rose (7-6/2-4 NE10). Junior goalie Ryan Fleming came up with 14 saves, while senior defenseman Dominic Meola and freshman defenseman Joey Jimenez each caused a pair of turnovers.

Junior Ryan Auger and senior attack Chris Valentine found the back of the cage three times each, and sophomore attack Jack Terrones set up three strikes to pace the Southern New Hampshire offense. The latter also scored twice himself.

The Golden Knights bounced back from an early 2-0 deficit as Nish struck twice within a four-minute stretch to deadlock the game 2-2 with 4:08 left in the first quarter. However, Valentine countered two minutes later and the Penmen scored four unanswered goals over the initial eight minutes of the second to put themselves in control behind a 7-2 advantage.

Looking ahead, Saint Rose is back on the road Saturday for a 1:00 pm NE10 date at Assumption in Worcester, Mass. Southern New Hampshire returns home to face Post University on Friday at 4:00 pm.
Notes: Four of the Golden Knights six setbacks have come at the hands of nationally ranked teams…Their seven wins are tied for second most in program history…Saint Rose won nine games in 2018 and seven in its inaugural 2012 campaign as well…Fifth-year attack Jack Pemrick made his 55th career start today, which ties him with former teammate Jordyn Marchiano (2017-21) for most all-time in program annals…Pemrick is also a point shy of becoming just the seventh Saint Rose player to record 100 career points…Junior attack Eddie Baker has at least one goal in each game this season…His 34 strikes lead the NE10.
