ALBANY, N.Y. – The College of Saint Rose scored four unanswered goals in the opening eight minutes and never looked back on the way to today's 18-7 win against visiting Caldwell amidst challenging weather conditions with snow falling on Sullivan Field at The Plumeri Sports Complex.

Regardless, the Golden Knights (5-1) have now won four straight and are 3-0 at home after extending the best start ever in program history.

"Today our guys were really excited to get out there and compete. We didn't let the unexpected weather distract us or disrupt our game plan. We played an exciting brand of lacrosse in conditions that could have easily allowed us to go the other way. It was really great seeing them take another step forward, share the ball, and play selfless," said Head Coach

Saint Rose again had a balanced attack with seven different players finding the back of the net. Meanwhile, the defensive unit limited the Cougars (1-2) to four goals throughout the initial three periods.

Eddie Baker led the way with four strikes, while fifth-year attack
Jack Pemrick, junior attack
Cam Smith, and junior midfielder
Gabriel Nish recorded three each. Smith and Nish also registered a pair of assists, while fifth year attack
Brendan Sheedy finished with two goals and a team-leading three helpers. Fifth-year midfielder
John Loughlin had a pair of goals and an assist, while junior attack
Greg Walsh contributed a goal as well.

In addition, sophomore defenseman
Walter Ross recorded three of the team's season-high 14 caused turnovers.

Freshman attack Ben Taylor and sophomore attack Jason Staudte had two goals apiece to lead Caldwell.

Sheedy sandwiched a pair of strikes around goals by Walsh and Nish to afford Saint Rose its early advantage. The Cougars (1-2) then cut their deficit in half with a pair of goals 45 seconds apart to make it a 4-2 game with 2:48 to go in the first quarter. However, the Golden Knights rattled off 11 of the game's ensuing 12 goals to afford themselves an insurmountable 15-3 cushion in the opening two minutes of the third quarter.

Looking ahead, Saint Rose is off until Saturday, March 19 when it begins the Northeast-10 Conference portion of its 2022 docket with a 4:00 pm home game versus Bentley. Meanwhile, Caldwell returns home Sunday to host Roberts Wesleyan at noon.
