MCGETTIGAN TIPS HOME GAME-WINNER AS TIME EXPIRES TO GIVE SAINT ROSE A 59-58 WIN OVER LAKE SUPERIOR

COLCHESTER, VT- The College of Saint Rose topped Lake Superior State University Lakers this evening in a 59-58 nail-biter in the opening day of the Eracism Invitational, hosted by Saint Michael's at the Ross Sports Center.

Saint Rose junior forward Josh McGettigan's putback with under one second left on the clock gave the Golden Knights the win after the Lakers clawed back from down 14 points in the second half.

After Lake Superior State's Kingsley Perkins made a driving basket  to go up 58-57, Saint Rose pushed the ball up the floor, with sophomore forward Shane O'Dell finding senior guard Sean Dadey in the corner for an open look at a three. Dadey's three would miss long, however McGettigan came flying in for the rebound and score to be the hero for the Golden Knights.

O'Dell led all scorers with 19 points on 7-of-14 shooting. The forward added seven rebounds, six assists, two steals, and a block in the all-around effort. McGettigan recorded 10 points and six boards.

Saint Rose went into halftime trailing 26-24, as LSSU would lead for the entirety of the first 20 minutes. The Golden Knights would come out swinging in the second half though, as a three-pointer by junior forward Eric Fleming followed by a lay up by senior forward Juran Ligonde would give Saint Rose their first lead of the game.

Fleming would finish the game with 11 points, four rebounds, and three blocks, while Ligonde would tally 10 points and nine rebounds.

The Golden Knights would find themselves up 14 points with five minutes left to play, however the Lakers would come charging back to close out the game. The McGettigan tip-in marked the first points for the Golden Knights since the 4:06 mark.

Perkins topped the Lakers with 11 points, while Kamon Bassett finished with 10 points and 12 rebounds.

The Golden Knights will take on D'Youville tomorrow at 5:00 pm in the final day of the Eracism Invitational.
