SAINT ROSE DROPS 69-65 OVERTIME THRILLER TO NEW HAVEN

ALBANY, NY- The College of Saint Rose and the New Haven Chargers took overtime to decide their Northeast-10 Conference showdown tonight, where the Golden Knights would ultimately fall 69-65 in Daniel P. Nolan Gymnasium.

Saint Rose was edged by the Chargers in the final minute of overtime after sophomore forward Shane O'Dell forced the extra sessions by swishing a three-pointer with less than two seconds remaining in regulation.

O'Dell lead Saint Rose with 22 points on the evening, with 18 coming in the second half that including a stretch of dominance in which O'Dell netted nine consecutive points.

The Golden Knights took a few minutes to settle into the game as they fell into an early eight-point deficit, but a 14-3 run started by three pointers from sophomore guard Keegan Zoller and junior forward Eric Fleming would give Saint Rose an 18-15 lead.

The remainder of the first half would see back and forth action, and both teams would head into the locker rooms tied at 29. Forward Tyrone Perry lead the Chargers with 17 first half points.

O'Dell's big scoring run in the middle of the second half was followed by back-to-back three pointers by freshman forward Max Jusianiec, who would give the Golden Knights a 54-45 lead, the largest of the game, with 10:04 left.

New Haven, however, would lock down on defense from there on, as the Chargers held Saint Rose to just seven points over the final ten minutes of regulation.

A driving layup by guard Quashon Lane would give New Haven a 61-58 lead with 0:18 seconds remaining, leading to the clutch O'Dell three to propel to the Golden Knights to OT.

The Chargers would go on to outscore Saint Rose 8-4 in the extra period, with Lane scoring five points in OT to finish with 16 points between the second half and overtime.

Senior forward Juran Ligone had 10 points and eight rebounds for the Golden Knights, while senior guard Sean Dadey totaled nine assists and six rebounds.

Next up, the Golden Knights head to Colchester, VT for the Saint Michael's Erasiscm Invitational on Friday and Saturday. Saint Rose will face Lake Superior State at 7:00 pm on Friday before a 5:00 pm meeting on Saturday with D'Youville. New Haven is set to travel to Indiana, Pennsylvania this Saturday to face Indiana University (PA) in a non-conference matchup.
