LIGONDE AND O'DELL EACH RECORD DOUBLE-DOUBLES IN 84-73 VICTORY AGAINST BLOOMFIELD

ALBANY, N.Y.- The College of Saint Rose pulled away from Bloomfield College to win tonight's season-opening contest, with the Golden Knights using three-point shooting and lock-down defense late to earn an 84-73 victory in the Saint Rose Tip-Off Tournament in Daniel P. Nolan Gymnasium.

Sophomore forward Shane O'Dell and senior forward Juran Ligonde paced the Saint Rose offense with 21 points each. The forward duo each logged double-doubles in the non-conference win for the Golden Knights, as O'Dell grabbed 12 rebounds and Ligonde secured 10 boards.

O'Dell and Ligonde each reached double-figures in a first half that saw two ties and seven lead changes between the two squads.  Ligonde tallied 10 points in the opening half, while O'Dell recorded 12, including two free throws right before the break that put Saint Rose ahead 37-36 at the half.

Sophomore guard Max Jusianiec and freshman Adam Dudzinski provided three-point baskets in a spurt that saw the Golden Knights open a 55-49 advantage seven minutes into the second half, however Bloomfield would own the next eight points to re-take the lead with 10:30 minutes remaining.

The Golden Knights would go on to secure the victory behind a 26-12 rally over the remainder of the matchup, including limiting the Bears to just five points over the final 3:22.

Saint Rose finished 32-for-62 (51.6 percent) from the field, including 48 percent from three-point range (12-for-25). The Golden Knights also owned a plus-nine margin advantage in the rebounding column.

Forward Wesley Robinson finished with a game-high 24 points for Bloomfield. Guard Andres Fulgencio had 18 points and seven boards.

Tomorrow afternoon marks the final day of play at the Saint Rose Tip-Off Tournament. The action begins with a 2:00 pm meeting with Bloomfield and Le Moyne, followed by the Golden Knights versus Dominican University at 4:00 pm.
