MANCHESTER, N.H. – Host Southern New Hampshire got off to a quick start to upend The College of Saint Rose 83-65 in Northeast-10 Conference action this afternoon.
The Penmen (8-6/4-5 NE10) jumped out to a 10 point, 21-11, advantage in the opening seven minutes and led throughout the contest to improve to 4-1 at home. Southern New Hampshire converted 49.2 percent (30-for-61) of its shots, including 44.0 percent (11-for-25) from the arc where it outscored the Golden Knights 33-18. Conversely, the Penmen held Saint Rose to 38.2 percent (26-for-68) shooting.

Shane O'Dell tossed in 15 points each to lead the Golden Knights (6-7/3-5 NE10). Freshman guard
Tray Alexander scored 12 points and handed out 11 assists, with a mere one turnover. Sophomore forward
Eric Fleming added 12 points, on 5-for-7 shooting, and hauled in eight rebounds.
Sophomore guard Matt Becht scored 21 points and pulled down 11 boards, while freshman swing Aaron Gray contributed 22 points to pace the Penmen. Freshman guard Ethan Okwuosa was also in twin figures with 15 points.
Up next, both squads have 7:30 pm conference games on Tuesday. Saint Rose hosts Saint Anselm, while the Penmen visit New Haven.
Notes: Today marked the 48th meeting between the two schools dating back to the 1995 NCAA Tournament…O'Dell remains among the conference's leading scorers and rebounders…He is fifth among the NE10 leaders with a 19.6 scoring average…He stands ninth behind 7.2 rebounds per game…Alexander tops the league with 6.5 assists per outing…He also paces the conference with a 2.3 steals average…O'Dell was named the NE10 Rookie of the Week for the third time this season on Monday…The Golden Knights seven losses have come against teams that own a collective .610 winning percentage (61-39)…Saint Rose is averaging 91.8 points on 51.8 percent shooting in its six victories and 65.6 points on 40.7 percent shooting in its seven setbacks.
