FOUR GOLDEN KNIGHT SWIMMERS EARN MULTIPLE INDIVIDUAL WINS IN DUAL-MEET WITH LE MOYNE

LOUDONVILLE, N.Y. – The College of Saint Rose swimming and diving teams fell to Le Moyne in a dual-meet this afternoon at the Siena Swim Center. The Dolphin women edged out the narrow victory by the score of 123-107, while the Le Moyne men outscored the Golden Knights 163-53.

Sophomore Brenna Hayes, fifth year Colleen Quaglia, and freshman Mia Stroub each recorded two individual victories to help earn key points for the Golden Knights. Hayes took the 200-yard freestyle in 2:02.48 and the 100 breaststroke in 1:11.93.

Quaglia continued her dominance in the distance events with a 10:54.74 clocking in the 1000 freestyle followed by a winning time of 5:16.66 in the 500 free, the latter marking the top time in the Northeast-10 Conference this season.

Stroub showed her versatility with a first place finish in the 200 individual medley with a time of 2:17.73 to go along with a 1:01.45 winning effort in the 100 butterfly. Hayes, Quaglia, and Stroub all teamed with freshman Nickollete Nesci to touch first in the 200 medley relay in 1:54.32.

On the diving boards, freshman Emily Ashby scored first-place points with a six dive total of 154.45 in the one-meter competition and took second off the three-meter board despite never competing or practicing at that height. She learned those six dives during practice just prior to the meet..

Freshman James Henriques was strong once again in the sprints for the Golden Knight men, dashing to wins in the 50 free and 100 fly with respective times of 22.11 and 54.90.

Sophomore Anthonie Brito earned the victory in the 100 backstroke with a clocking of 56.55 in addition to just missing the win in the 200 IM after touching 0.34 seconds behind the leader.

Junior Eric Romero Gomez added a second-place finish in the 200 free with a 1:54.82. Romero Gomez also worked with Henriques, Brito, and freshman Jacob Steen to touch second with a 1:37.11 in the 200 freestyle relay.
