ALBANY, N.Y. – Junior shortstop
Andrew Pedone drove a bases loaded single to center field with one down in the ninth to propel The College of Saint Rose to a 6-5 game-one victory against visiting Northeast-10 Conference rival New Haven this afternoon. The Chargers then took the second game 6-4.
Â
The Golden Knights (12-25/6-17 NE10) opened up a 4-2 lead in the eighth, but New Haven pushed across three runs in the ninth to go ahead 6-5. Sophomore pinch hitter
Stephan MacMeans drove an 0-2 pitch to right field to load the bases in the bottom half. Junior second baseman
Patrick LaDouce then drew a walk to force in the tying run. Pedone ended it a batter later.
Saint Rose got out to a 2-0 lead in the first when junior catcher
Jon Montesanti brought home LaDouce with a sacrifice fly. Pedone then scored on a passed ball.
Â
New Haven countered with one in the third and another in the eighth, before the Golden Knights seemingly put themselves in control with two in the home half behind a Pedone RBI base hit and a Chargers error. However, New Haven answered in the top of the ninth to set the stage for the dramatic finish.
Â
Pedone went 3-for-5 with two runs scored and a pair of RBI, while senior first baseman

Â
In the finale, Saint Rose built itself another 4-2 cushion. However, New Haven cut its deficit in half with a run in the sixth and then added three more an inning later to close out the scoring.
Â
Freshman third baseman
Tyler Osborne drove a two-run triple to right in the fifth and junior center fielder
Garrett Klahr had an RBI base hit in the fourth to propel the Golden Knights offense. Junior right-hander
Frankie Pizzo surrendered three runs on four hits in 5.2 innings of work on the bump. Freshman right-hander
Tanner Beang tossed 2.0 innings of one-hit ball in relief.
