ALBANY, N.Y. – The College of Saint Rose afforded itself a chance after digging an early hole in today's 13-10 setback to visiting Northeast-10 Conference rival American International.
The Yellow Jackets (10-10/4-3 NE10) scored in each of the first four innings to grab a 10-0 lead. The Golden Knights (7-10/3-3 NE10) hung tough by pushing across five runs in the seventh and five more in the eighth that forced American International to bring on closer James Flahive in the ninth. Flahive retired the side in order to pick up his third save of the spring while preserving a hard fought win for the Yellow Jackets.
Senior first baseman
Nicolas Teitter belted a grand slam over the center field fence to highlight the eighth and senior center fielder
Alexander Koshgarian lined a two-run base hit in the seventh.
Senior designated hitter
Patrick LaDouce kept his hot bat alive by finishing 3-for-4 with a run scored and an RBI. Teitter, Koshgarian, and freshman catcher
Max Gebauer contributed two hits apiece.
Senior designated hitter Reed Phillips went 3-for-5 with a run scored and an RBI to lead American International.
Up next, Saint Rose is back home tomorrow for a 4:00 pm non-league game versus NYIT. Meanwhile, the Yellow Jackets have a 3:30 pm NE10 crossover date Thursday at Assumption College in Worcester, Mass.
Notes: LaDouce has hit safely in four straight games at a .538 (7-for-13) clip…Teitter and Koshgarian each have a team-leading six multi-hit games on the year.
