ALBANY, N.Y. –The College of Saint Rose trimmed a seven-goal fourth quarter deficit to four with 4:32 remaining in tonight's 12-6 Northeast-10 Conference setback to #17 Assumption.
The Golden Knights (4-8/2-7 NE10) netted three goals in a 5:53 span to make things interesting late on a beautiful evening at the Plumeri Sports Complex. However, Assumption (8-4/5-3 NE10) scored off the ensuing possession to stem the Black and Gold momentum.
Senior attack
Carter Badour, one of four Saint Rose players that were honored as part of the "Senior Night" ceremony before the game, led the Golden Knights with three points, two goals and an assist. The output made the co-captain the first Saint Rose player to record a pair of 50-point seasons. Badour, who registered a program-record 56 points last spring, currently has 51 with two games left on the schedule.

Senior midfielder
Nicolas Johnson, among the national leaders in multiple statistical categories, won 68.2 percent of the game's face-offs (15-for-22) and topped all players with 12 groundballs. The program's career groundballs leader, making his final appearance in the home whites, also scored the first Saint Rose goal of the evening. Â
Â
Sophomore goalie
Matthew Gill made 14 saves in the cage.
The Greyhounds held Saint Rose scoreless for more than 20 minutes as they slowly built up the advantage. Senior attack Dan Farrell topped Assumption with three goals and an assist, while junior midfielder Owen Peterson III added a hat trick. Senior attack Travis Reid, who entered the weekend second in the NE10 with 63 points, was held in check by the Saint Rose defense, only managing a goal and a helper.
Senior goalie Colby Hamwey stopped 13 Golden Knight shots to pick up the win.
Johnson, Badour, and senior defensemenÂ
Jeremy Pariseau and
James Fennessy were recognized before the contest for their contributions to the program during the past four years.
Looking ahead, Saint Rose visits Franklin Pierce for a 1:00 pm NE10 game on Saturday. Assumption visits #4 Merrimack on Tuesday at 4:00 pm.
Notes: Johnson entered the game second nationally with a league-best 12.91 groundballs per game…He had won 70.5 percent of his face-offs, which was good for 8th in the country…Badour, second on the Saint Rose career scoring list with 136 points, is second in program annals with 103 goals.
